of a retaining wall and the restoration of the sidewalk at the Hastings Train Station

Dear Residents,
We are happy to advise that Metro North is scheduled to begin construction of a retaining wall and the restoration of the sidewalk in front of the train station that was destroyed in Hurricane Ida, a damaging and intense hurricane which occurred in August, 2021.
The work is scheduled to begin on Thursday, June 26, 2025. Barricades, signage, and fencing will be set up to enclose the work area and the parking spots just south of the work area on Southside which will be used as a staging area. The work hours are anticipated to be Monday to Friday from 7am to 4pm.
After this the sidewalk portion of the work is complete, new bike racks will be installed in the area under the stairs where bikes are currently secured. The work is anticipated to take about 10 weeks depending on the supply chain for the bike racks.
Please leave a few extra minutes to get to the train in the morning. Although the work crew has been made mindful of the morning commute their presence and the heavy machinery may result in some delay.
You can find the plans for the work on the Village website here.
Thank you for your patience as this long-anticipated restoration is accomplished.
Very Truly Yours,

Mary Beth Murphy
