Carbondale Police Press Release - Unlawful Use of a Weapon

CARBONDALE – On May 9, 2025, at 6:28 p.m., City of Carbondale police officers responded to the 700 block of South Lewis Lane for a report of a male displaying a firearm during an altercation. Officers arrived and located the suspect, a 15-year-old male of Carbondale, and recovered the firearm without incident. The juvenile was arrested for Unlawful Use of a Weapon and released to his parent with monitoring equipment when it was determined no juvenile detention facilities were available. The juvenile’s identity is not being released in accordance with the Juvenile Justice Act. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the police department at the numbers listed below. The investigation remains active and ongoing.
