Carbondale Police Press Release - Traffic Crash

CARBONDALE – On April 10, 2025, at 8:32 p.m., City of Carbondale police officers responded to a traffic crash in the 1700 block of North Illinois Avenue. Officers learned two vehicles were involved, and three occupants suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. Those injured were treated at the emergency room and later released. During the investigation, officers learned the driver of one of the vehicles, Samuel W. Brown, age 37 of Carbondale, was exhibiting signs of impairment. Brown was arrested for Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol and Failure to Yield while Turning Left. Brown was released on citations pending a court appearance. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the police department at the numbers listed below.
