CARBONDALE - The City of Carbondale is pleased to announce that Interim City Manager and Chief of Police Stan Reno accepted a conditional offer for the position of City Manager, pending final approval of an employment agreement by the Carbondale City Council. Chief Reno’s extensive leadership experience and dedication to the community make him an excellent choice for this key role.

In preparation for this transition, Interim City Manager and Chief of Police Reno will appoint an Acting Chief of Police to ensure continuity within the Carbondale Police Department.  A nationwide search for a new Police Chief will also commence.

"Serving the City of Carbondale as Police Chief has been one of the greatest honors of my career," said Interim City Manager and Chief of Police Reno. "I look forward to continuing to serve our community in this new capacity as City Manager."

The City of Carbondale extends its gratitude to Chief Reno for his unwavering commitment to public safety and looks forward to his leadership in this new role. Details regarding the selection of an Acting Chief of Police and the nationwide search will be announced.
