Reminder of Carbondale's "BIG IDEAS" Workshop Nov. 13

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CARBONDALE -

The City of Carbondale wants to remind residents of our upcoming Big Ideas Workshop on Wednesday November 13, from 6:30-8 PM at the Carbondale Civic Center (200 S. Illinois Ave) in Room 108. This workshop will feature activities for all ages through which participants can share their ideas for the future of Carbondale as we develop our updated comprehensive plan.

Pizza and light refreshments, as well as kids’ activities will be provided at this event, and free parking is available. Advanced registration at PlanCarbondale.com is encouraged. For those unable to attend, an online survey is available at PlanCarbondale.com.

The comprehensive plan we are working towards is a long-term guide for land use, housing, transportation, parks and open space, economic development, and more. Since the last plan was adopted in 2010, the community has experienced many changes. The plan is generally updated every 10-15 years, hence the creation of a new forward-thinking comprehensive plan that is now in process. The City’s planning staff is working with a volunteer steering committee representing a range of interests, backgrounds, and neighborhoods to help guide the process.

The City of Carbondale is thrilled to launch PLAN Carbondale; a community-driven initiative to prepare the city for the next decade and help make the city the best place it can be. Join us as we work together to build a stronger Carbondale. Through collaboration, we can build a more vibrant, inclusive city that meets the needs of all residents.

The planning process will be completed in spring of 2025. For more information, visit PlanCarbondale.com.

“Carbondale prides itself on providing its visitors, students, businesses and residents with a unique mix of edge and ease. It’s a cultural town, yet free of pretense, embracing the great outdoors as readily as urban sophistication. Here, we are open to new ideas, experiences and cultures, so you are encouraged to both express yourself and be yourself, in all ways. That’s Carbondale…All Ways Open…for family, fun, business, new ideas and a bright tomorrow.”
