Carbondale Police Press Release - Mental Health Crisis Intervention

CARBONDALE – On March 25, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., City of Carbondale police officers responded to the 200 block of West Main Street in response to a person suffering from a mental health crisis. Officers located the individual sitting on the edge of a roof threatening self-harm by jumping from the roof. Officers went up on the roof and were able to talk the person safely down. The Carbondale Fire Department assisted in providing the ladder truck for officers and the individual to climb down safely. No injuries occurred. The individual was taken to Memorial Hospital of Carbondale for a mental health evaluation.
