**Hurricane Beryl Response and Emergency Measures**

La Marque, Texas – The City of La Marque is actively monitoring Hurricane Beryl and implementing necessary emergency measures to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents. The following actions have been taken in response to the impending hurricane:

**1. Levee Closure**

In anticipation of severe weather conditions and potential flooding due to Hurricane Beryl, Galveston County Road & Bridge has closed the levee system to ensure the safety of our community. The closure is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice. Residents are urged to avoid the area and seek higher ground if necessary.

**2. Opening of Temporary Limited Shelter for Medical Emergencies**

To support residents with urgent medical needs, the City of La Marque has established a temporary limited shelter. This shelter is designated for individuals requiring medical attention and those who are unable to access other shelter facilities. The temporary shelter is located at: COMMUNITY ROOM (1109-B Bayou Rd.)

The shelter will provide essential electricity, water, and facility coverage for medical services and limited accommodations. Residents needing to utilize this shelter are advised to bring necessary medications, identification, and any essential personal items. **3. Structure Fire Response**

During the current emergency, the La Marque Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Holly Street. The fire has been contained. No injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation. We commend our fire department and emergency services for their swift and effective response, ensuring the safety of our residents during this challenging time.
