FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: TREKELL ROAD IMPROVEMENT PROJECT TO BEGIN (01/20)
The City of Casa Grande is set to begin the Trekell Road Improvement Project on Monday, January 20, with construction expected to last approximately eight months. The project, spanning Trekell Road from Rodeo Road to McCartney Road, will bring significant upgrades to this essential roadway, increasing its capacity and enhancing safety.
The $5.8 million project includes widening Trekell Road from two lanes to four lanes between Avenida Luna and McCartney Road and adding a two-way left turn lane at McCartney Road. Construction will include the removal of existing asphalt pavement, the installation of new asphalt, curbs, gutters, driveways, and a median near Casa Grande Union High School. Infrastructure upgrades include box culvert replacement, catch basins, traffic signals, streetlights, sidewalks, and improved ADA-compliant sidewalks. The enhancements aim to support the city’s continued growth by increasing roadway capacity and improving traffic flow.
Traffic Impacts:
Motorists should expect delays in the area and are encouraged to drive cautiously, adhering to posted traffic signs as crews will be working near the roadway. One lane in each direction will remain open during construction, however bike lanes will be inaccessible, requiring motorists to share the road with cyclists. Parking within or around traffic control devices is strictly prohibited and fines will double in the construction zone for violations.
Work will take place Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents are encouraged to report construction-related concerns through the See Click Fix app. For traffic updates and city alerts, visit the City's Stay Connected page.
The City of Casa Grande appreciates your patience and cooperation as we work to improve infrastructure and meet the demands of our growing community.
