FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: TRAVELING GARBAGE GALLERY PHASE II ART UNVEILING SCHEDULED (01/22).

The City of Casa Grande is thrilled to announce the unveiling of Phase II of the “Traveling Garbage Gallery Art Program,” a unique public art initiative. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, January 22, at 2:00 p.m. on the north side of City Hall, 510 E. 8th Street.

This innovative program turns garbage trucks into mobile art displays, combining creativity with an anti-littering message to promote keeping Casa Grande clean and beautiful. During the unveiling, the featured garbage trucks will be on display, and attendees will have the opportunity to meet the talented local artists behind the designs: Elizabeth Robbins, Susan Shivers, and Ashlynn Alvarado.

The Traveling Garbage Gallery Art Program began with a Request for Proposals (RFP) in October. From the submissions, three artists were selected to have their artwork displayed on two sides of three garbage collection vehicles. This phase marks the second installment, with additional trucks planned for future phases until the entire city fleet becomes part of this traveling gallery.

“It was a fun and unique experience for our department to participate in,” said Ron Rouse, Sanitation Superintendent. “Artwork and sanitation services may not seem like an obvious partnership, but our drivers are proud to showcase these designs on their trucks. They even had the opportunity to choose the art for their individual vehicles, which has created a strong sense of pride.”

The selected artists received a $100 gift card for their work, and the designs were printed and installed by Radius Signs, a local business.

The Public Works Sanitation Division plays a vital role in maintaining Casa Grande's cleanliness, covering 341 street miles and 39 alley miles, servicing over 21,000 residential accounts citywide, and collecting more than 44,152 tons of trash annually.
