Water Resources crews will start this week on a fire hydrant reconditioning project in Ward 3. This involves using a rotary cleaner to remove old paint & debris and then recoating the hydrants with a new, 2-part epoxy finish. Crews will also install reflective bands that will make it easier to see the hydrants at night & will color code them for available fire flow. The project includes approximately 360 hydrants & should be finished by mid-June. We do not anticipate any street closures associated with this project, but please be mindful of the rotary cleaner machine & our crews who may be working at the edge of the roadway near available hydrants.
