SRPD News Release: SRPD INVESTIGATES VEHICLE VS BICYCLIST COLLISION
SRPD INVESTIGATES VEHICLE VS BICYCLIST COLLISION
On Monday June 9th, 2025, at approximately 8:12am, Santa Rosa Police Dispatch received a 911 call regarding a collision near the intersection of Sebastopol Rd and Laurel Grove Circle. The 911 caller advised dispatch that a vehicle and a bicyclist were involved in a collision near the intersection. The vehicle was described as a gold Ford pickup. The bicyclist was on the ground and needed immediate medical attention.
Santa Rosa Police Officers and Fire/Medical personnel arrived on scene. The bicyclist was assessed and immediately transported to a local trauma center for major injuries, that were deemed to be life-threatening.
The driver of the Ford pickup remained on scene and spoke with a Santa Rosa Police Motor Officer who was in charge of the investigation. The driver did not display any symptoms of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
Based on the driver’s statements and the statements of a witness, the bicyclist had entered a crosswalk at the intersection when they were struck. The bicyclist entered the roadway from the north side of Sebastopol Rd, attempting to ride across to the south side. The Ford pickup had been traveling westbound on Sebastopol Rd when the collision occurred.
The bicyclist is a 55-year-old resident of Santa Rosa. Her name will not be released at this time. She remains in the hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the Ford pickup is a 59-year-old resident of Cloverdale. He is cooperating with the investigation. At this time, it doesn’t appear that speed was a factor in the collision.
The westbound lanes of Sebastopol Rd near the intersection with Laurel Grove Circle were closed for almost three hours during the investigation. Evidence Technicians were called out to assess the scene and collect evidence.
