Officer Recovers Loaded Firearm and Narcotics During Traffic Stop:

On Sunday, April 27, 2025, at approximately 1:05 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle with no license plates displayed. During the stop, the officer observed open containers of marijuana in plain view. When questioned, the driver admitted to possessing a loaded firearm under his seat.


The driver was detained without incident, and a search of the vehicle was conducted. Under the driver's seat, the officer located a loaded, unregistered, unserialized 9mm P80 privately made firearm (PMF). Additionally, suspected crack cocaine was found in the center console.

The driver, identified as 45-year-old Vallejo resident Tabarrie Merritt, was determined to be a convicted felon prohibited from possessing firearms and ammunition. Merritt was transported to the Sonoma County Jail, where he later admitted to concealing additional narcotics on his person. 

Merritt was ultimately booked into the jail for the following charges:

25850(a) PC: Possession of firearm in public.
25400(a)(1) PC: Carry a concealed firearm in a vehicle.
29800(a)(1) PC: Possession of a firearm by a prohibited person (prior felony conviction).
30305(a)(1) PC: Possession of live ammunition by a prohibited person (prior felony conviction).
11370.1(a) H&S: Possession of a controlled substance while armed with a firearm.
11350(a) H&S: Possession of a controlled substance.
