Search Warrant Leads to Psilocybin Mushroom Cultivation Operation
In October 2024, detectives from the Santa Rosa Police Department Narcotics Team began an investigation into individuals cultivating and selling psilocybin mushrooms in Sonoma County. During this investigation, detectives identified 26-year-old Santa Rosa resident, Jose Reyes Jr, and 38-year-old Santa Rosa resident, Travis Troxell, as the persons involved.
On 11/18/24, at approximately 1040 hours, SRPD officers and detectives detained Troxell in his vehicle in the 5100 block of Old Redwood Hwy N, Petaluma, pursuant to a search warrant. Detectives located ammunition, a taser, bear mace, and approximately $5,200.00 in US currency in his vehicle. He was also in possession of the keys to the suspected psilocybin cultivation operation.
Detectives from the SRPD Narcotics Team, Property Crimes Team, Domestic Violence/Sexual Assault Team, and agents from the local Homeland Security Investigations office, responded to the 3600 block of Arizona Dr, Santa Rosa, and executed the service of a search warrant. Detectives located two privately made semi-automatic handguns, MDMA, and a money counter in the residence.
Detectives from the SRPD Narcotics Team, Property Crimes Team, and SRPD officers detained Reyes in the 2800 block of Apache St, Santa Rosa, pursuant to a search warrant. Detectives then responded to the 2600 block of Comanche St, Santa Rosa, and executed the service of a search warrant. Detectives located approximately 4 pounds of dried psilocybin mushrooms, approximately $14,000.00 in US currency, 10 ounces of MDMA, 80 tabs of LSD and evidence of psilocybin mushroom cultivation. Additionally, detectives seized an unlawful AR-15 style rifle, a Glock handgun, a shotgun, and a .22 caliber rifle.
SCSO Narcotics detectives, SRPD detectives, and agents from the DEA responded to the 1300 block of Ross St, Petaluma and executed the service of a search warrant. Detectives and agents located a large psilocybin mushroom cultivation operation inside the warehouses. Approximately 10,000 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms in various stages of cultivation were seized.
