Multiple arrests in gang related incidents following several investigations

Gang related incidents result in multiple arrests of juveniles. Over the past several weeks, the Santa Rosa Police Department (SRPD) has been receiving a multitude of calls for service regarding a group of juveniles associated with criminal street gangs in the downtown area. The group of juveniles has been responsible for several felonious assaults, robberies, and other disturbances primarily occurring in the areas of the Downtown Santa Rosa Transit Mall and Santa Rosa Plaza. These events have created a significant demand for resources from SRPD patrol officer, SRPD Downtown Enforcement Team, Santa Rosa Plaza Security, City of Santa Rosa Transit Mall Staff, outreach workers from the Santa Rosa Violence Prevention Partnership, and detectives from the SRPD Gang Crimes Team. Events of note are as follows:

On 5/13/24, the victim, a 27-year-old male, was walking with his mother near Julliard Park in Downtown Santa Rosa. The victim noted four to five subjects approaching him. The victim recognized the subjects as gang participants. The group surrounded the victim and began making gang challenges. The victim was then attacked from the side and knocked to the ground. On the ground, the victim was punched and kicked multiple times suffering visible injuries. A witness yelled at the suspects, causing them to flee. One suspect has been arrested by Gang Detectives at the SRPD relating to the assault.

-Suspect 1, a 15-year-old male, was arrested on 5/21/2024 per 245(a)PC Assault likely to cause great bodily injury, 186.22(a)PC Gang Participant, 186.22(b)(1) PC Gang Enhancement. A search warrant was served on 5/21/2024 at a residence in the 1400 block of Pebble Creek Dr. pursuant to this investigation.

On 5/20/24, the victim, a 13-year-old male, was walking with his girlfriend in the food court at the Santa Rosa Plaza. The victim observed several subjects, who he knew to be gang affiliated, sitting at a table as he passed by. One of the subjects began calling out to the victim with gang related challenges. The victim was then approached and attacked by the group. The victim was punched and knocked to the ground, at which point he was punched and kicked further. The victim was also robbed of some personal items during the attack. The victim’s girlfriend attempted to intervene, at which point she was attacked by several females who were with the larger group of gang participants. The male victim was transported to the hospital via ambulance following the assault. He was treated and released.

-Suspect 1, a 14-year-old male, was arrested on 5/22/24 by Gang Detectives at the Transit Mall for 211 PC Robbery, 245(a) PC Assault likely to cause great bodily injury, 186.22(a)PC Gang Participant, and 186.22(b)(1) PC Gang Enhancement. A search warrant was served on 5/22/2024 at a residence in the 2300 block of Meadow Way pursuant to this investigation.

-Suspect 2, a 13-year-old male, was arrested on 6/11/24, per 211 PC Robbery, 245(a)PC Assault likely to cause great bodily injury, 186.22(a)PC Gang Participant, 186.22(b)(1) PC Gang Enhancement. This suspect was arrested at Juvenile Hall where he was in custody on another, unrelated offense. A search warrant was served on 6/11/24 at a residence in the 500 block of Arrowood Dr pursuant to this investigation.

-Suspect 3, a 15-year-old male, was arrested on 6/12/24, per 211 PC Robbery, 245(a)PC Assault likely to cause great bodily injury, 186.22(a)PC Gang Participant, 186.22(b)(1) PC Gang Enhancement. A search warrant was served in 1600 block of Randon Way.

On 5/30/24, the victim, a 17-year-old male, was walking in the transit mall and observed a subject he knew and believed to be gang affiliated in close proximity. The suspect briefly walked out of view, then returned with three other suspects. The suspect had donned a full-face mask and approached the victim. The group of suspects quickly surrounded the victim and pushed him against a wall. The suspects then demanded the victim’s personal property. In fear, the victim gave up his belongings. The suspects then fled. Upon further investigation by the SRPD Gang Crimes Team, four suspects were identified and arrested on .

-Suspect 1, a 13-year-old male, was arrested on 6/11/24 per 211 PC Robbery, 186.22(a)PC Gang Participant, 186.22(b)(1) PC Gang Enhancement. This suspect was arrested at Juvenile Hall where he was in custody on another, unrelated offense.

-Suspect 2, a 14-year-old male, was arrested on 6/12/24 per 211 PC Robbery, 186.22(a)PC Gang Participant, 186.22(b)(1) PC Gang Enhancement. A search warrant was served in the 700 block of Dutton Ave.

-Suspect 3, a 15-year-old male, was arrested on 6/12/24 per 211 PC Robbery, 186.22(a)PC Gang Participant, 186.22(b)(1) PC Gang Enhancement. A search warrant was served in 1600 block of Citrine Way.

-Suspect 4, a 15-year-old male, was arrested on 6/12/24 per 211 PC Robbery, 186.22(a)PC Gang Participant, 186.22(b)(1) PC Gang Enhancement. A search warrant was served in the 1600 block of Randon Way.

On 6/6/24, the victim, a 17-year-old male, was inside the Santa Rosa Plaza when he was confronted by a group of gang participants. The victim attempted to walk away but was followed into the parking lot area between the south mall building and Downtown Transit Mall. The victim was subsequently chased and cornered by the group of gang participants. He was then assaulted by approximately 10 suspects. The suspects grabbed, pushed, punched, and knocked the victim to the ground. Once on the ground the victim was beaten with dozens of punches and kicks to his head, back and stomach areas. During the assault, the suspects pulled off the victim’s shoes and stole them. When patrol officers arrived on scene, the victim was found lying on the ground, suffering from numerous scrapes and bruises, and loss of consciousness. He was subsequently transported to the hospital via ambulance. He was treated and released.

This most recent incident is currently being investigated by the SRPD Gang Crimes Team. At this time, detectives are attempting to identify the suspects involved. Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to contact the SRPD Gang Crimes Team at 707-543-4021.

Reward money may be offered through the Sonoma County Alliance for information leading to the identification of those responsible.
