SRPD Responds to Vehicle vs Pedestrian Collision
On December 26th, 2023, at approximately 11:08pm, Santa Rosa Police Officers and Medical personnel were dispatched to a vehicle versus pedestrian collision at the intersection of Sebastopol Road and Dutton Avenue. SRPD Dispatch received several calls that a silver BMW was involved in a collision with a pedestrian and the pedestrian was unconscious and lying in the roadway.Officers arrived on scene and located the pedestrian who was in the roadway of a northbound lane of Dutton Avenue, just north of the intersection with Sebastopol Road. A silver BMW was stopped on the side of the road with major front-end damage. The driver of the BMW was still on scene.
The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
SRPD Accident Investigators responded to this location and took over the investigation. The driver of the BMW was interviewed and was cooperative. There was no indication that the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Speed does not appear to be a factor and it is unclear if the pedestrian was in the crosswalk, but it does appear that the BMW had the right of way with a green light.
The investigation is on-going. At this time, the names of the driver and the pedestrian will not be released. The pedestrian remains in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
