SRPD officer locates two loaded firearms during a traffic stop
On Sunday, November 12, 2023, at approximately 1:13 am, Santa Rosa Police Department Officer Maloney was patrolling on Santa Rosa Avenue when he observed a Dodge Challenger traveling at approximately 55 mph, in violation of posted speed limits. Officer Maloney conducted an enforcement stop on the vehicle in the 1700-block of Santa Rosa Avenue. The officer contacted the two occupants of the vehicle and was immediately met with a strong odor of marijuana.
Ofc. Maloney conducted a search of the vehicle to determine the source of the marijuana smell and located two loaded firearms under both the driver’s seat and front passenger seat, respectively. The Glock 19 and Polymer 80 pistols contained loaded magazines, and two loose 9mm rounds were located near the firearms on the floorboard. Also located in the vehicle were two Halloween masks.
Ofc. Maloney conducted a preliminary DUI investigation and determined the driver was not impaired. A marijuana “blunt” was located in a cup-holder ashtray.
The driver, Alexis Figueroa Reyes, a 22-year-old Santa Rosa resident, was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for the following offenses:
25400(a)(1) PC - Carry a concealed firearm in a vehicle
25850(a) PC - Carry a loaded firearm in a vehicle while in a public place
The passenger, Angel Ramirez, a 22-year-old Santa Rosa resident, was arrested and booked into Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility for the following offenses:
25400(a)(1) PC - Carry a concealed firearm in a vehicle
25850(a) PC - Carry a loaded firearm in a vehicle while in a public place
