DUI Checkpoint Results for Friday, November 10, 2023
On Friday, November 10, 2023, The Santa Rosa Police Department conducted a DUI checkpoint at Morgan Street and Fifth Street, from 8:00 pm until 12:00 am.
A total of 18 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed and three drivers were cited for operating a vehicle with a suspended/revoked license. A total of 647 vehicles were contacted and 19 drivers were evaluated for DUI, resulting in three arrests for DUI. One driver was cited for having an open container of alcohol in their vehicle. One driver was arrested for a felony warrant. One driver was arrested for being in possession of controlled substances and drug paraphernalia and for carrying a loaded and concealed firearm.
DUI checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of DUI checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.
Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
