SRPD News Release:
SRPD Property Crimes Investigations Team makes multiple arrests for identity theft, drug possession, and possession of an unserialized assault weapon
On November 8, 2023, detectives from the Santa Rosa Police Department’s (SRPD) Property Crimes Investigation Team (PCI) were completing follow-up related to a burglary investigation involving Corey Crabtree, a 38-year-old Santa Rosa resident. On August 28, 2023, Crabtree was convicted for her role in a commercial burglary in February. A felony arrest warrant was issued for Crabtree after she failed to return to court in October for her sentencing hearing.
On the afternoon of November 8, 2023, PCI detectives conducting surveillance located Crabtree at her residence. At approximately 2:30 pm, SRPD officers contacted Crabtree and her roommate, Jimmy Freebury, a 41-year-old Santa Rosa resident, walking on the sidewalk within the 1300-block of Townview Avenue.
At the time of the contact, Freebury was out of custody and on bail for a pending felony assault case. The terms of his bail required him to submit to warrantless search and seizure of his person, property, residence, and vehicle by any law enforcement officer. Pursuant to these court-ordered terms, detectives completed a search of Freebury’s residence in the 1300-block of Townview Avenue. During the search, detectives located several items of contraband including narcotics, narcotics paraphernalia, personal identifying information belonging to identity theft victims, a stun gun, tear gas, dozens of rounds of ammunition, and an unserialized assault weapon. Both Crabtree and Freebury were convicted felons, and prohibited from possessing ammunition, firearms, pepper spray, and taser devices.
Crabtree was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for her outstanding felony warrant and for the following violations:
30305(a)(1) PC – Felon in Possession of Ammunition
530.5(c)(2) PC – Felony Identity Theft
11364(a) HS – Possession of Narcotics Paraphernalia
