Dear Residents,

A truck driver delivering a chemical to the Central Water Plant unintentionally mixed two chemicals compounds in a holding tank. The chemical reaction released chlorine gas from the tank vent. This gas drifted on the south wind to the local area and created burning eyes and nasal irritation. The tank was shut within minutes, however the off gases continue to create an air exposure issue.

Police has began going door-to-door to warn area affected residents to remain inside until the gas dissipates. This is expected to be approximately one hour. Hazmat crews have been notified and clean up will begin soon.
