Jr. First Responder Academy

The Sandy Fire and Police Departments are teaming up to host a fun, three-day academy for kids ages 8–10! Participants will get hands-on experiences, visit both departments, and enjoy an exciting final-day K9 demonstration and firefighter challenge. The June class is already full, but there is still time to register for the August session.

Plein Air Quick Draw Competition

Artists of all skill levels are invited to participate in Sandy’s Plein Air Quick Draw—an exciting outdoor art challenge held at the beautiful Sego Lily Gardens. You’ll have just three hours to capture the natural beauty of the gardens and create a work of art entirely on site. Whether you’re a seasoned painter or trying plein air for the first time, this is a fun, fast-paced event to showcase your creativity.

Mayor Zoltanski shares exciting news: U.S. News & World Report has ranked Sandy City as one of the top cities to live in the country, coming in at No. 109 nationwide. In her brief update, the Mayor highlights why Sandy continues to earn national recognition, from major sports developments and transit improvements to a full slate of summer activities for families.

Upcoming Road Work on 1300 East

Sandy City will begin major road improvements on 1300 East from 9400 South to Sego Lily Drive starting June 2. This important infrastructure project will enhance safety, accessibility, and ride quality for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike. Work will include full resurfacing, curb and sidewalk replacement, utility adjustments, and minor landscaping to improve overall aesthetics and function.

• Work begins: June 2 (concrete & prep)
• Paving begins: After July 4
• Estimated completion: Mid-August (contract runs through Sept. 30)

Please plan for traffic delays, lane restrictions, and potential detours throughout the project duration. Thank you for your patience as we improve this key corridor!

Be Ready Sandy – Emergency Preparedness Meeting

Join us this month for a Be Ready Sandy meeting focused on extreme heat safety and power outage preparedness. Learn how to recognize heat-related illnesses, build a cooling plan, and support vulnerable neighbors.

Cultural Celebration Series at Cairns Plaza

The Candidate Filing period for the 2025 Municipal Elections is June 2-6, for the following seats:
