Join us in celebrating Water Week from May 4 – 10, 2025! This special week is all about learning, engaging, and taking action to protect one of our most precious resources—water. Whether you're a green thumb, a curious kid, or just looking for fun things to do with the family, there's something for everyone.

  • Love Your Landscape Photo Contest: Show off your waterwise landscape and photography skills! Submit your photos for a chance to win a water bill credit and have your photo featured in city publications. The contest runs from May 5 - September 7. Submit your photos here.
  • Join us at 3430 E Danish Road on May 8, from 4 - 7 p.m. for a free tour of the water treatment plant, free food, activities for all ages, and to learn about upcoming projects.
  • Scavenger Hunt at Sego Lily Gardens: Participate in a DIY scavenger hunt on May 9, from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Complete the passport at 8 stations and turn it in for a prize!

Water Conservation Resources

  • WaterSmart Customer Portal: Get detailed information about your household water use. Access it on your mobile device or web browser at sandy.utah.gov/watersmart . Register for this free service using your billing account number and email address to track your water usage, compare it to similar homes, detect leaks, and receive personalized water and money-saving recommendations.
  • Landscape Consultations: Interested in making your landscape more waterwise? Schedule a free consultation with a city specialist! Sandy residents can request an appointment by filling out the form. (billing account number required).
  • Waterwise Rebates: Save water and reduce maintenance costs! Sandy residents can receive up to $3 per square foot for replacing turf with waterwise landscaping. Learn about project requirements and apply at utahwatersavers.com before starting your project. Check out free waterwise landscaping classes at sandy.utah.gov/1814 and localscapes.com for helpful resources.
  • Additional Rebate Programs:
    • Smart Controllers: Receive up to $100 for an EPA WaterSense-labeled smart controller.
    • Toilet Replacement: Get paid up to $150 to replace old toilets (using more than 1.6 gallons per flush) with WaterSense-labeled ones (typically found in homes built before 1994).
  • Free Water Check: Schedule a free Water Check to analyze your automated sprinkler irrigation system's efficiency. Trained evaluators will assess your system and provide a customized irrigation schedule, considering soil type, root depth, sprinkler distribution, and water pressure. Water checks are available during the summer months (May-August). Schedule an appointment.

  • Opening & Spring Fair: Visit Sego Lily Gardens, now open for the season! Our hours are Monday – Saturday, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m. Learn about water conservation principles and practices for creating beautiful, water-wise landscapes. Join us for our annual Spring Fair on Saturday, May 31, from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. The fair will feature educators from various organizations, a butterfly tent, and a butterfly release at 12:30 p.m. More details: sandy.utah.gov/1334/Sego-Lily-Gardens
