Geneva Rock Lawsuit Update
Arguments for summary judgment were presented in court on January 31 in Draper City's lawsuit regarding Geneva Rock's proposed expansion of their Point of the Mountain operations. The judge will now deliberate. The City expects to hear a final decision toward the end of March.

If this bill were to pass, it would make the court case essentially moot and give gravel extraction operations the same vested rights as mining entities in the state. This includes expanding at will onto adjacent properties, regardless of zoning, and would exempt gravel/mining operations from local land use authority (expansion by right).
