Wheaton Police Preparing to Take the Polar Plunge

The Wheaton Police Department is taking the plunge for a good cause with the return of the Polar Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Illinois. This year, members of the team, Wheaton’s Frostbitten Finest, will be jumping into an icy pool provided by the Wheaton Fire Department to support more than 21,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities. They are ready to BE COOL and TAKE THE PLUNGE!
Last year, Team Frosted Donuts raised more than $13,000 for Illinois Special Olympics athletes with the support of the Wheaton community, and the team will brave the cold once again on March 22 to help build more inclusive communities. The team has set a goal of raising $15,000 for Illinois Special Olympics athletes.
“The Wheaton Police Department is thrilled to bring back the Polar Plunge for the fifth year,” said Wheaton Police Officer Christopher Dempsey, who is the Team Captain for this year’s event. “The support of the Wheaton community for this program and Special Olympics Illinois athletes has been phenomenal these past four years. We’re ready to get cold for a great cause, and we welcome the community to help us support our local Special Olympics athletes through the Polar Plunge.”
