AlertAnnapolis - High Wind Warning from National Weather Service

This is an important message from the City of Annapolis Office of Emergency Management:


The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is currently monitoring forecasted gusty winds and potential thunderstorms that may impact Annapolis today, Sunday, February 16th.  Sustained West winds of 20 to 30 mph are expected, with gusts reaching up to 50 to 60 mph today. Wind gusts as high as 40 to 50 mph may linger at times through Monday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued the following for the Annapolis area:  

  • High Wind Warning is currently in effect until 10:00 PM tonight
  • Gale Warning in effect from 10:00 PM tonight until tomorrow, February 17, 4:00 PM
  • Storm Warning is currently in effect until tomorrow, February 16, at 10:00 PM

Safety Reminders

Preparing for High Winds

  • Secure loose objects (furniture, trash cans, and other outdoor equipment) as these can become dangerous flying debris in high winds.
  • Tree limbs could be blown down, resulting in a few sporadic power outages.
  • Use caution when driving. Check for any Bay Bridge wind warnings and restrictions from MDTA by calling I-877-BAYSPAN (229-7726) or checking MDTA's social media  Twitter/X  and Facebook.
