Greetings from Lytle P.D. Last week our officers responded to 56 calls for service and conducted 34 traffic stops. Of those 34 stops, 16 resulted in citations and 18 were warnings.  We had a good variety of activities this week … here we go.
There were five arrests last week: #1 – A traffic stop for speeding on Main St. resulted in a 20-year-old male receiving a citation and being released for possessing tobacco products. #2 – An 18-year-old male turned himself in at the P.D. LPD obtained a warrant on him for failure to ID because of a traffic stop where he provided another person’s name and date of birth. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #3 – A traffic stop for speeding on FM 2790 N. resulted in the citation and release of a 21-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia. #4 – Officers were dispatched to the Dollar General for an unruly customer, a 39-year-old male was arrested for public intoxication and booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #5 – A traffic stop on the IH-35 Access Rd. resulted in the arrest of a 41-year-old male for D.W.I. … enhanced to a felony because he had a child with him. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail.
There were six property-related crimes reported last week: #1 – A resident on John Wayne St. (Saddle Ridge Estates has cool street names!) reported that someone stole a plant valued at $75 from their front yard. #2 – Officers responded to the H.E.B. Plus for a theft. A female stole some unknown items and departed before our arrival. She has been identified, and the case is under investigation. #3 – The Texican Boutique on Main St. reported the theft of a Spectrum Internet box. It had been mounted on the side of the building, which is an odd theft. #4 – H.E.B. Loss prevention reported a theft of an electric toothbrush that occurred in March, discovered while reviewing videos. #5 – Somebody tried to get into the U.S. Mail cluster box on Doc Holiday (yep, another cool street name in Saddle Ridge). They didn’t gain access, but they did damage it. #6 – Officers took a report of a burglary of a vehicle at the Best Western Plus. A 2012 Ford F-250 was broken into, a wallet, two acetylene tanks, and miscellaneous items were taken. We also had two wallets that complainants reported lost. One was lost at McDonald’s, and the other was left on their bumper, along with keys, and then they drove off.
July 4th will be here before you know it! We will have our big fireworks show at John Lott Park that night. No charge for admission, and free parking, you can bring your ice chest. There will be food trucks there too! It’s a popular event … because the fireworks show rocks! We have come a long way from our first show; it was almost 25 years ago. The city bought fireworks and public works set them on a trailer and set them off. Most of them went off at the same time, it was a “heck of a display,” but it only lasted a few seconds. Luckily, nobody was hurt. I remember one year we canceled it because the park had water standing from a big rainfall. Anyway … show up early or stop in for the show. You won’t be disappointed.
While we are on the topic of fireworks … our city ordinance prohibits the discharge of fireworks in the city limits. To report illegal fireworks, call our dispatcher, the Atascosa Co. Sheriff’s Office at 830-769-3434 Option #1. They have direct radio contact with our on-duty officers.
