Lytle Police Chief's Weekly Report - June 2, 2025
June 2, 2025
Greetings,
We have uploaded the weekly report to our website (www.lytletx.org/police). Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Current Weekly Report.” If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. You can reach me at our office (830-709-0277) or richard.priest@lytletx.org.
We survived another school year! And I can tell when I headed off to work and pulled onto FM 2790 N., and there was no traffic, a sense of peace came over me. I will enjoy this for the next two months.
Last week, your Lytle PD officers managed 63 calls for service and conducted 92 traffic stops. Of those 92 stops, 45 resulted in citations and 47 were issued warnings.
There were seven arrests last week: #1 – Officers served two felony warrants on a 47-year-old male in the 14900 block of Harbour St. The warrants (Promotion of Intimate Visual Material & Fraud Use of a Debit Card) were a result of a Lytle P.D. investigation. This was the first time we deployed our drone. The drone was able to view the area before our officers “hit” the house. The benefits were numerous. We could see what vehicles were there, if there were people outside, or even something like a group of kids playing in a yard. Our arrest team could have been alerted to the situation, and perhaps the operation could have been delayed for safety concerns. The arrest was made without any complications. He was booked into the Atascosa County Jail. #2 - A 46-year-old male was cited for theft at the H.E.B. C-Store; he was observed drinking a beer in the walk-in cooler. #3 A 46-year-old male (the same guy from above) was arrested at his residence on Lytle-Somerset St. for a theft warrant. He had stolen briskets from the H.E.B. Plus, and our investigation resulted in his arrest. The benefits of stealing from a location within a short walk of your home are outweighed by the increased chance you have of getting caught. #4 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the arrest of a 68-year-old male who had an active arrest warrant out of Bexar County for Failure to Comply with his sex offender registration requirements. He was booked into the Medina Co. Jail. #5 – A traffic stop on Main St. for running a stop sign resulted in the arrest of a 35-year-old male for felony DWI with a Child. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #6 & #7 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the arrest of a 58-year-old male for D.W.I. and his 41-year-old male passenger for Felony Possession of a Controlled Substance. Both were booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail.
Five property crimes were reported last week. #1 – The guy drinking beer in the H.E.B. C-Store cooler from above. #2 – A female attempted to steal items from H.E.B. H.E.B. recovered the merchandise. #3 – A female made off with $67 worth of baby formula; the case is under investigation. #4 – Officers responded to the H.E.B. Plus for a report of a theft that occurred earlier in the day. Approx. H.E.B. employees recovered $600 worth of ribeye steaks and an ice cream maker as the female fled. #5 – H.E.B. Plus reported a counterfeit $100 bill was passed at the business center.
Our community has big events planned for the next several months. Here is my rundown on them:
Friday, July 4th – The city’s annual Fireworks show! The fireworks will start as soon as it gets dark, and food trucks will also be available in the park. If you haven’t attended this event and enjoyed the fireworks, you're missing out. This is by far our most popular event, drawing a huge crowd.
Tuesday, October 7th – Our annual National Night Out event will be held that evening at the Lytle Community Center. It's an excellent opportunity to meet your public safety team and enjoy complimentary food and drinks. Reach out to me if you're interested in becoming a sponsor or if your company or organization would like to set up a table at our mini-expo.
Saturday, October 25th – The Lytle Ex-Students Association will be sponsoring the Homecoming Parade. The event will take place on Main St. and starts at 10 AM. These events are held every other year, making them a popular and well-attended occasion. Hopefully, by late October, we will have cool weather, making it even more enjoyable.
You can tell from the report that our staff is staying busy, with numerous cases to follow up on and paperwork to process.
That’s a wrap for this week - Richey.
