Lytle Police Chief's Weekly Report - May 26, 2025
May 26, 2025
Greetings,
We have uploaded the weekly report to our website (www.lytletx.org/police). Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Current Weekly Report.” If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. You can reach me at our office (830-709-0277) or richard.priest@lytletx.org.
City Offices will be closed on today in observance of Memorial Day. The regular city council meeting will be held at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 (at City Hall). It was rescheduled due to the Holiday.
For city of Lytle water customers, you may see reduced pressure or even no water on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. The times will be between Midnight and 4 AM (so actually Wednesday & Thursday are early morning hours, but most of us would call it Tuesday and Wednesday night). Only part of the city will be impacted. Those areas include Coalmine Subdivision, Twin Lakes Subdivision, Cortez Ln., Blume Dr., Dawson St., North of Hwy 132 (Between Diaz St. & FM 2790), Hwy 132 (Between Cortez Ln. – Gray St.), Gray St., Martin St., and Oak St. (between Gray St. & Martin St.)
Here is your snapshot of Lytle P.D. activity for the week ending May 25, 2025. Lytle P.D. Officers handled 68 calls for service and conducted 48 traffic stops. Of those stops, 13 resulted in a citation and 35 were either verbal or written warnings.
Officers made four arrests last week. #1 – A 17-year-old female was cited for attempting to purchase alcohol by a minor. This occurred at the Good Luck Mart in the 14600 Blk. of Main St. #2 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the “citation and release” of a 47-year-old male for possession of drug paraphernalia. #3 – A traffic stop on Railroad St. resulted in the arrest of a 35-year-old female, she had an active D.W.I. warrant out of Bexar Co. #4 – A disturbance in the McDonald’s parking lot resulted in the arrest of a 67-year-old male for D.W.I.
There were five property crimes reported last week. #1 – The H.E.B. C-Store reported the theft of two cases of beer valued at approx. $40. The old “beer run” is still alive and well. #2 – H.E.B. Plus reported the theft of $130 worth of meat, which with the cost of stuff today is not a basket full for sure. #3 – 888 Barber and Beauty Institute reported items missing from the business. Officers worked quickly and the items were returned. The owner opted to not file charges. #4 – H.E.B. Plus reported that a female exchanged stolen property for a gift card. #5 – A Bruce St. resident reported furniture was taken from a residence they just purchased. Officers located the furniture quickly and it was returned to the owner. They opted not to file any charges.
So, we had two property crimes this week where once the items were recovered the victims chose not to proceed with criminal charges. That’s okay with us, if the victim is happy, we are happy. The person avoiding the charges is usually happy too!
We had the honor of hosting the monthly meeting of the Medina County Crime Stoppers last week. Their organization has been around for 40 years! They need a coordinator from each agency, and we will have Cpl. Danny Robison representing us from here on out. They pay cash for tips that lead to arrests, recovery of stolen property, etc. For example: You have a wild cousin who stole a riding lawnmower and has it hidden in a barn at your grandmother's place…. Turn that son of a gun in! Maybe you will get a few bucks (they pay in cash, the only thing better than that is gold). It is a good way to earn extra money, and it is less intrusive than selling your plasma. All tips are 100 % anonymous! You can reach them several ways… Their APP is: P3 TIPS (Available on IOS & Android Devices) call them: 1-800-FOR-CUFF (1-800-367-2833). If you have questions or want to help support their organization, you can email them at medinacountycrimestoppers@gmail.com. They also have an active Facebook page.
I believe that if you get confused and call the wrong county, they will forward it to the correct jurisdiction. For those in Atascosa County, you can reach the Atascosa Crime Stoppers @ 830-769-2255. In the San Antonio/Bexar County area, you can reach them at 210-224-STOP (7868) or 800-252-8477.
Keeping our community safe takes a group effort, a few cops driving around and chasing down crooks helps … but it only goes so far. Look out for your neighbor and report suspicious activity. One nosey neighbor with the police on speed dial can keep a whole street safe.
