Lytle Police Chief's Weekly Report -March 31, 2025
March 31, 2025
Greetings,
We have uploaded the weekly report to our website (www.lytletx.org/police). Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Current Weekly Report.” If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. You can reach me at our office (830-709-0277) or by email @ richard.priest@lytletx.org.
I don’t have any considerable L.P.D. news to report. Officers handled 54 calls for service and conducted 109 traffic stops. Of those stops, 62 resulted in citations and 47 were warnings.
There was one property crime reported. The manager at Sonic purchased approximately. $40 worth of small plants and planted them along the drive-through. He had the drive-thru looking good because some crook dug them up and took off with them! All that remained were empty holes. We don’t have any leads. Maybe our crook gave them to somebody, and it brightened up their day. That is about the most positive spin I can put on it.
Officers made four arrests last week. Only one was a trip to jail the others were “cite and release.” #1 – Capt. M. Dear investigated a domestic violence incident that occurred back in late February. He obtained three felony assault warrants on a 25-year-old male. The male was arrested at his residence without incident in the 18600 Blk. of Wisdom Rd. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #2 – Ofc. S. Mendez & Ofc. J. Cortez conducted a traffic stop on Main St. An 18-year-old female was cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia. #3 & #4 – Ofc. T. Barrera & Sgt. D. Lopez conducted a traffic stop on S. Somerset St. Two 22-year-old males were cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Some things never change, one of those is door-to-door peddlers. They slip into town and try to sell you something you may or may not need. While some of these are legitimate, there are many that my kids would call “sus.” I have talked to many of these salespeople, and their tactics can often be questionable. The City of Lytle has an ordinance that requires them to get a permit. If someone comes to your door, ask for their permit. The permit doesn’t guarantee they aren’t “sus,” but it helps. Some groups, such as religious organizations and those not selling anything, are exempt from the permit process. My thought process is “Who really buys stuff from a door-to-door salesperson in 2025?”. If they offer something that sounds too good to be true, alarm bells should be going off in your head. To all those legitimate, professional door-to-door sales reps you have my apologies if I have offended you. I’m a cop, I don’t deal with the good ones … my experiences are with the “sus” ones.
It is that time again! We have uploaded the Lytle PD Quarterly Newsletter to our website. You can find it at https://www.lytletx.org/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/3920
As always, contact our office if you have any questions. If you need an officer dispatched to your location, call the communications center in Jourdanton at 830-769-3434 Option #1. They have direct radio contact with our on-duty officers. If it is an emergency, call 911.
