Lytle Police Chief's Weekly Report - March 24, 2025
March 24, 2025
Greetings,
We have uploaded the weekly report to our website (www.lytletx.org). Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Current Weekly Report.” If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. You can reach me at our office (830-709-0277) or by email @ richard.priest@lytletx.org. There will be a regular city council meeting tonight (Monday) at 6:30 PM at Lytle City Hall.
For the week ending Sunday, March 23, 2025, … Lytle P.D. officers handled 51 calls for service and conducted 77 traffic stops. Of those 75 stops, 36 resulted in a citation and 41 were warnings.
We didn’t have any property crimes reported last week!
There were five arrests: #1 – A traffic stop on Main St. by Ofc. R. Garcia (assisted by Ofc. F. Reyes) resulted in the arrest of a 39-year-old male for D.W.I. He was booked into the A.C.S.O. Jail. #2 – Ofc. Diaz responded to a welfare check on Railroad St. The call resulted in a 62-year-old male being arrested for public intoxication, he was cited and released to a responsible adult. #3 – Ofc. Cortez and Ofc. Mendez responded to a report of a disturbance at the McDonald’s restaurant. A 46-year-old male was arrested for public intoxication. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #4 – Ofc. R. Garcia (assisted by Ofc. F. Reyes) conducted a traffic stop for running a stop sign. A 43-year-old male was found to have active warrants out of Bexar Co. He had a warrant for felony drug possession and another felony warrant for continuous family violence. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #5 – Ofc. R. Garcia (assisted by Ofc. F. Reyes) stopped a “speeder” on Main St. The stop resulted in the arrest of a 44-year-old male for D.W.I. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail.
Last Monday, L.P.D. responded to a house fire on Juarez St., which is located in the Coalmine community. Structure fires, residential or commercial, are rare in the city. The residents discovered the fire quickly and were able to evacuate safely. The wind fueled the fire, and neighboring structures were threatened. The Lytle Fire Dept. arrived quickly and sprang into action. They were assisted by the Natalia Fire Dept., Rossville Fire Dept., Bexar Co ESD #5, and Medina Co. ESD#1 (LaCoste). Atascosa Co EMS also provided a great deal of assistance.
The third annual Lytle Music Festival is now behind us. There were no issues other than the wind picking up every now and then. Good music, good vendors, and tasty food trucks… it was a nice quality event. I would say the crowds were larger than last year.
I was able to resist the allure of the food trucks. Everything I saw looked great, but at the end of the day, I stayed on track and stuck with my little lunch box full of snacks.
Ofc. Teodoro “Teo” Barrera was sworn in last week as our newest team member. He comes to us from the Alamo Colleges District Police Dept. He will be in our field training program for the next few months. He will be filling the newly created, partially grant-funded officer position that was recently awarded to our department.
A lot is going on around town! Heck, the city council even approved additional stop signs on Magnolia St. You know you are “A City On the Grow” when you get more stop signs.
