Lytle Police Chief's Weekly Report - Nov. 18, 2024
Monday, Nov. 18, 2024
I have uploaded the weekly report to our website. You can find it at www.lytletx.org/police. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Current Weekly Report.” If you have any questions, you can email me at richard.priest@lytletx.org
You have landed on your “go to” spot for news on Lytle P.D. activity and a little bit of information on community news and special events. For the week ending Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024, … Officers handled 48 calls for service and conducted 57 traffic stops. Of those 57 stops, 29 resulted in a citation and 28 were warnings.
Officers took reports of 2 property crimes last week, that’s not too bad. #1 – Our Public Works department reported that someone trespassed at our sewer facility and dumped trash, including an old toilet. #2 – H.E.B. Plus reported that a person pushed out a basket full of items; he saw that the employees were on to him, so he fled without any of his loot. His basket was full, how full? Well, when they totaled up the items the value of the products was $935!
There were 4 arrests last week. #1 – Offices responded to a suspicious vehicle in the Saddle Ridge Estates Subdivision. After a traffic stop, officers determined that the occupants were unpermitted door to door salespeople. One occupant, a 27-year-old female, had two active warrants out of Kenedy Co. One for felony narcotics, and one for unlawfully carrying a weapon. She was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #2 – A traffic stop on the IH-35 Access Rd. resulted in the arrest of a 21-year-old male, he was found to have felony-level narcotics. He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail. #3 – A traffic stop on Main St. resulted in the arrest of a 45-year-old female and a 46-year-old male, it was a brother and sister duo. Little sis had an active warrant out of Atascosa Co. for Revocation of Probation and was found to have felony-level narcotics. Big brother had an active warrant out of State Pardons and Paroles for an original charge of Felon in Possession of a Weapon. They were both booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail.
There will be a wrestling event on Main St. (by the shops at Lytle) this Saturday (Nov. 23). The gates will open at 6 PM and the event starts at 7 PM. I expect a lot of people down there, so be aware, Main St. might get congested that evening.
Our Holiday Hayride (I, call it a Christmas Hayride) is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 14. We take off from the community center at 6 PM. Get there early and make the first round, we usually do at least three trips to accommodate all those in attendance. This year the city is working with downtown businesses to enhance the experience and provide some additional shopping and entertainment options. I will follow up with more detailed information as soon as I have it. This event will be rated extremely high on “Things to do in Lytle on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024”.
Were you one of the ones worrying that I might “get picked by Trump” for some big government job? Worry no more, I will remain your police chief for now. I had a few missed calls from D.C. area codes, but they didn’t leave a message and I don't call back numbers I don't recognize.
