I have uploaded the weekly report to our website. You can find it at www.lytletx.org/police. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “Current Weekly Report.” If you have any questions, you can email me at richard.priest@lytletx.org
For the week ending Nov. 3, 2024, … Officers managed 56 calls for service and conducted 38 traffic stops. Of those 38 stops, 20 resulted in citations and 18 were warnings.
Officers made 4 arrests last week. #1 – A 40-year-old male was arrested for D.W.I. (2nd Offense) after he was stopped on Main St. for failing to signal a turn. #2 – A 52-year-old female was cited and released for a Class C Theft at the H.E.B. Plus. #3 – A traffic stop on FM 2790 N resulted in a 23-year-old male being cited and released for possession of drug paraphernalia. #4 – A report of a man dressed as “Buc-ee the Beaver” (it was Halloween) yelling at people on Lytle-Somerset St. resulted in the arrest of a 45-year-old male for Public Intoxication. I guess we can kiss our chances at a Buc-ee’s goodbye! He was booked into the Atascosa Co. Jail.
There were three property crimes reported last week. #1 – A complainant reported that his 2017 Ford F-150 was rummaged through while parked at the Hacienda Jaliscience Café (IH-35 @ FM 3175). The vehicle was unlocked, and his wallet was taken. It contained cash, credit cards, and identification documents. #2 – A female stole approx. $35 worth of dog food. She was later located, cited for theft, and released. #3 – The officer responded to Best Western Plus for a report of a vehicle burglary. The complainant reported that a Honda Generator, valued at $2,200, was stolen out of the bed of his work pickup.
The Lytle Public Library will have a Book & Craft Sale this Saturday, November 9. The event will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. If you get a chance, stop by, and check it out.
There will be a citywide cleanup event this Saturday. Roll-off dumpsters will be placed at City Hall and the Lytle H.S. parking lot. There are certain limitations on what can be disposed of. The time is from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This event is only available to city residents, I guess you should bring some sort of proof. Contact City Hall for more information. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get rid of that old recliner in the garage that the rats have been nesting in.
We made it through another Halloween! It wasn’t too hot and wasn’t too cold, so we had a good turnout. All the “old school” places like N. Prairie St., Blume Dr., and Lakeshore were busy. Main St. kicked it up a notch this year, at least in my opinion, there was a lot of activity. Saddle Ridge Estates was packed, I guess it makes sense because the homes are packed in there, you get a better “candy return” based on walking distance. I didn’t exactly find a formula for that, but I am sure there is one out there. There were a lot of people in town, and we didn’t have any “Halloween” related injuries so we will mark that as a “win.” I didn’t even eat a single piece of candy! It’s a Halloween record.
Here is a good plan for Saturday. Clean out your garage, and trash some stuff you don’t need in the dumpsters. Then head over to the library and buy some books and crafts to put in your newly freed-up space. Why? Because you are an American and that is what we do.
