ADVISORY - Hawaii DCR Alert - Missing Work Furlough Inmate Captured
HONOLULU — State Sheriff’s deputies captured missing work furlough inmate Casey P. Ogawa in Chinatown today after he failed to return to the O‘ahu Community Correctional Center (OCCC) Module 20 on Wednesday, January 31, 2024.
Ogawa, 31, left Module 20 on a work furlough pass at approximately 6:30 a.m. Wednesday and was supposed to return at 8:30 p.m. State Sheriffs and the Honolulu Police Department were notified.
Deputy sheriffs of the Special Operations Section captured Ogawa in Chinatown at approximately 8:40 a.m. today. He was booked for escape and returned to custody at OCCC.
Ogawa is classified as a community custody inmate in the work furlough program with pass privileges. Community custody is the lowest classification status.
He is serving time for felony burglary.
