Marina Police Department Alerts
Sign up to receive emergency alerts and severe weather warnings that could directly impact you and your family
The City of Marina’s police department has the capability to send out emergency alerts via text message, email, or automated phone call (only in extreme cases), based on your preferences. You decide which type of messages you would like to receive and by what method. Having the ability to contact our residents to notify you during emergency situations improves everyone’s safety. We respect your privacy and want you to decide the type of messages you wish to receive and how to receive them. No information in this system will be utilized for any purpose other than to send alerts from the system as noted below.
The Marina Police Department’s alerting system is powered by a third-party vendor, CIvicReady. The system is primarily intended to be used for emergency alerts to our residents, but it can also be used for non-emergency notifications. Public Safety Alerts could be related to things like evacuations, imminent or active threats, at-risk missing persons, severe weather events, unplanned road closures due to active emergencies, other incidents requiring rapid response or notification, or significant ongoing police or fire activity in the city. This list is not meant to be all-inclusive, but demonstrates that this type of alert will not be used for routine information. Public Safety Notifications are alerts of a non-urgent nature. These may include, as examples, incident press releases, notifications of planned road closure and traffic related information, or notification of community events or meetings hosted by the Marina Police Department.
There are different methods of receiving these notifications. You may choose from email, text message, voice call, or fax. You choose which method(s) you wish to receive notification. All of these methods are opt-in and opt-out, so you decide when you wish to receive alert messages and which message types you wish to receive. We recommend that you opt-in for at least Public Safety Alerts so that you can receive notifications should there be an emergency in the area that could affect you.
We also ask that you provide your address in addition to your preferred method(s) of contact. Adding your address is optional, but will allow us to send you only messages that pertain to your specific geographical area.
These alerts are provided free of charge, however standard text messaging rates and other charges may apply.
If you wish to subscribe to emergency SMS text messages only, text MarinaCA to 38276. There is also a mobile app available.
