Republic Services' weekly curbside yard waste collection begins for 2026 season on Monday, April 6

BATTLE CREEK, Mich. — Neighbors within the City of Battle Creek are reminded that weekly curbside yard waste collection, through Republic Services, will begin next Monday, April 6, and will run through Friday, Dec. 4, for the 2026 season.
The following are some general reminders regarding yard waste service:
Season and schedule
- Weekly curbside yard waste collection runs April through December
- Yard waste should be at the curb by 6 a.m. on neighbors' regular collection day
Preparing yard waste
- Leaves and grass must be bagged or in an accepted container
- Branches bundled 4 feet or shorter, and tied
- Loose branches will not be collected
Accepted containers
- 2‑ply paper yard waste bags (no plastic bags, please!)
- Up to 32‑gallon containers labeled “Yard Waste Only”
- 50 lb. maximum per container
- 96‑gallon carts available from Republic Services
Items not accepted in yard waste
- Plastic bags
- Soil, sod, or rocks
- Food waste (except pumpkins from October through November)

Yard waste collection helps keep neighborhoods clean while supporting responsible disposal of organic materials. The City of Battle Creek hopes that our neighbors will take advantage of weekly curbside yard waste collection from early April through early December.
