Potential Traffic Impacts and Mid-Town Beach Renourishment Update: Week of May 18, 2026
The Town of Palm Beach advises residents and motorists of potential traffic impacts during scheduled work occurring. Please follow signage and directions, proceed cautiously, and allow extra travel time in the areas mentioned below. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and cooperation. Access to residents’ homes will be maintained at all times. Please follow the directions of the United States Secret Service (USSS) and the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office (PBSO) personnel in the area.
Potential Traffic Impacts: Bahama Lane to Via Marila, including North Lake Way and North Ocean Boulevard
Monday, May 18 - 29, 2026, the Town’s contractor, The Paving Lady, will be b performing milling and resurfacing paving operations. Traffic will be temporarily detoured and/or rerouted as needed. Access to residents' homes will always be maintained. Please do not place vegetation in the roadway during this time. Potential Traffic Impacts: Mid-Town Beach Renourishment Update
The contractor closes sections of the beach as construction progresses, as the work area moves south. Beach accesses at Sunset Avenue, Clarke Avenue, and Brazilian Avenue were reopened. The Chilean Avenue beach access is currently closed due to ongoing construction activity. As crews continue south, Peruvian Avenue will serve as the primary staging area for the remainder of the project, and closures are expected there to accommodate construction operations. Equipment is planned to begin moving off the beach to condense the working area before the estimated completion date of May 22, 2026, but this plan is subject to review and update. Monday May 18, 2026: The southbound lane in front of 1340 S Ocean Blvd will be closed for 15 minutes, twice, to allow the unloading of a telehandler. ROW-26-06826
Potential Traffic Impacts: Clarendon Avenue at Vita Serena Road Closure
From May 1, 2026, to October 31, 2026, the west end of Clarendon Avenue at Vita Serena will be closed to all through traffic as the Town’s contractor will be making improvements to both the Sanitary and Stormwater Pump Stations. During this time, Public Works asks residents and their staff/vendors to park on their own property, not on the roadway, to allow traffic to move freely up and down the roadway. Access to residents' homes will always be maintained. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience and cooperation. Undergrounding work occurring throughout several project phases may result in intermittent lane closures, localized detours, and brief delays during the week of May 18, 2026. Residents and motorists are encouraged to use caution and allow extra travel time when traveling through affected areas.

The installation of a new watermain along Cocoanut Row between Royal Poinciana Way and Pendleton will require a southbound lane closure, with a flagging operation in place to maintain traffic flow throughout the project.

S.R. A1A/South Ocean Boulevard from S.R. 802/Lake Avenue to Ibis Way: This 2.074-mile project in Lake Worth Beach and Palm Beach started on May 3, 2025. Upgrades include road milling and repaving, widening for new 5-foot bike lanes, pedestrian signal improvements, new traffic signals and flashing beacons, decorative lighting installations, curb ramp and sidewalk upgrades (including switching to concrete), improved drainage, updated signs, and new pavement markings with green bicycle symbols.
Lane closures may occur daily (8 a.m.–6 p.m.) and nightly (8 p.m.–7 a.m.), Sunday night through Friday, until June 2026, for grading, sod work, and final striping. Expect possible delays. Lake Avenue may also experience lane closures at the intersection during the same hours for similar construction work. S.R. A1A/South Ocean Boulevard from Emerald Beach Way to S.R. 704/Royal Palm Way: This 2.3-mile Palm Beach project began May 27, 2025, and runs through June 2026. Improvements include milling and repaving, new traffic signals (decorative mast arms at Golfview Rd./Hammon Ave., Worth Ave., Peruvian Ave.; standard mast arms at the Fire Station and Royal Palm Way), upgraded LED pedestrian signals, drainage improvements, enhanced lighting (including decorative fixtures at key intersections), improved curb ramps and sidewalks, updated signage, and pavement markings with sharrows.
One lane may close daily, 8 a.m.–6 p.m., and nightly, 8 p.m.–7 a.m., Sunday night–Friday, for grading, sod installation, and final striping. Expect similar closures on Lake Avenue, west of the intersection. Follow pedestrian detours and signage throughout the work zone. - Dunbar Road (Bradley Place to North County Road): Road closed; local traffic only; access maintained.
- Atlantic Ave. (Bradley Place to North County Road): Road closed; local traffic only; access maintained.
- Phase 8:
- Multiple conduit installation locations on Seminole, Root Trail, North County Road, Sunset Avenue, Bradley Place, Everglade Avenue, and Sunrise Avenue. Lane closures and local traffic only; access will be maintained.
