Village of Irvington Budget Committee Member Recruitment Notice

One of Irvington’s greatest strengths is the willingness of residents to step forward and help shape the future of our community. As we work to plan responsibly for the years ahead, including reviewing and planning for the future of our Village facilities, we are seeking volunteers to serve on the Village’s newly established Budget Committee. The Budget Committee was created by the Board of Trustees at its March 16, 2026 meeting.

This committee will work with the Mayor, Board of Trustees, the Village Administrator and the Clerk-Treasurer to review our operating and capital budgets, helping ensure that the Village continues to follow sound fiscal policies while maintaining the services and quality of life our residents value. If you have an interest in public service, finance, or simply care about Irvington’s future, we hope you will consider applying to serve.
This committee is being formed to solicit and encourage thoughtful review, analysis, and recommendations by community members on both the Village’s operating and capital budgets, as well as the overall budget process.

Committee Responsibilities Include:

• Reviewing and evaluating the Village’s annual operating and capital budgets
• Identifying opportunities to optimize programs and services
• Recommending cost-saving measures and efficiencies
• Exploring potential revenue sources to offset expenses
• Identifying value-added initiatives to benefit the community

• The Committee will consist of seven members appointed by the Board of Trustees
• Members will serve staggered terms of up to three years
• Positions are volunteer and unpaid
• The Committee will meet periodically and provide recommendations to the Board

The Village encourages residents with backgrounds or interest in finance, budgeting, public administration, or related fields to apply. A strong interest in civic engagement and community service is essential.
