Public Safety Message from Irvington Police Chief Pignatelli
Good evening,
The Irvington Police Department would like to remind all residents to take a few simple steps to help protect your property and keep our community safe. While Irvington continues to be a very safe community, we have recently received reports of larcenies from vehicles as well as a stolen vehicle within the village. These types of incidents are often crimes of opportunity and frequently involve unlocked vehicles or valuables left in plain view.
Many of these incidents can be prevented by taking a few basic precautions.
Please remember the following safety tips:
We also ask residents to remain attentive and help us keep Irvington safe. If you observe suspicious activity, individuals checking vehicles, or anything that appears out of place, please report it immediately to the Irvington Police Department at 914-591-8080.

- Always lock your vehicles, even if they are parked in your driveway.
- Remove or hide valuables such as wallets, handbags, electronics, and loose change from inside your car.
- Do not leave vehicle keys or key fobs inside your vehicle.
- Lock your home doors and windows, especially overnight or when leaving the house.
- Secure garage doors and avoid leaving garage door openers visible inside vehicles.
- Use exterior lighting or motion lights around your home when possible.
- Consider using security cameras or alarm systems if available.
