Facilities Planning Project Update and Virtual Open House Resident Engagement

Thank you to everyone who attended our recent Open House at the Irvington Public Library to learn more about the Village’s long-term facilities planning efforts. We were pleased to welcome over 100 participants who reviewed exhibit materials and spoke directly with representatives from the Irvington Police Department, Fire Department, Department of Public Works, and Parks and Recreation, as well as the planning, architectural, and engineering consultants guiding the process. We were also grateful for the strong presence and engagement from members of our volunteer boards and committees.

Attendees shared a diverse range of viewpoints, perspectives, and ideas, but what stood out most was the deep and shared commitment to the Village’s future. The feedback was thoughtful, constructive, and reflective of a community that cares deeply about maintaining high-quality public services while planning responsibly for the years ahead. Residents who were unable to attend, as well as those who would like to continue providing input, can review the exhibit materials online and share additional feedback digitally. As this process moves forward, we recognize that difficult decisions lie ahead, including where facilities should be located and how they will ultimately be financed. These are significant issues, and they will be approached thoughtfully and transparently. This will be a collaborative process with the community, and continued engagement will help guide the path forward.

Incorporating all of the input we are receiving, the team is moving into the next phase of planning to assess the physical characteristics of the potential sites and “test fit” the departmental programs. Stay tuned for the next community event later this spring. Community participation remains essential to shaping a facilities plan that reflects Irvington’s needs, priorities, and future vision. Thank you again to everyone who has contributed so far, and we hope you will remain engaged as this process progresses.
