Irvington Alerts

From the Mayor’s Desk…October 8, 2025

From the Mayor’s Desk … Election Day and Halloween are fast approaching. I want to provide you with some relevant updates on both.

Irvington Elections - Mayoral Candidate Forum and Political Signs

The League of Women Voters of the Rivertowns has announced a virtual Candidate Forum for candidates for Mayor of the Village of Irvington. The Irvington forum is scheduled for Tuesday, October 14th, from 7PM to 8PM.  The Irvington Mayoral candidates are Arlene Burgos, current Trustee and Deputy Mayor, running on the Democrat line, and Robert Grados, former Irvington School Board President, who is running on the Irvington First line.

The Irvington forum can be viewed live by pre-registration at https://bit.ly/irvmayor. There will be no audience participation. Questions must be submitted ahead of time either at registration or by email to info@lwv-rivertown.org  . The deadline for submission of questions is 9AM Friday, October 10th. Questions will be vetted by a committee of League members who will submit them to the moderator prior to the start of the Forum.

While I am on the subject of elections, I ask that everyone refrain from removing political signage until the election has concluded (i.e., November 5, 2025). All our candidates are entitled to express their constitutionally protected rights embodied in political signs without private individuals acting to censor them. In some cases, it may be a crime to remove a political sign.

Halloween - Irvington’s Music Fest “Porchella”

On Halloween night (October 31st) the Village will be closing Main Street from just below the Aqueduct to just above Buckhout Street from 5PM to 10PM.  Once the street is closed performances by 15 bands in a range of locations in the Main Street area will begin. Below are the band descriptions provided by these enthusiastic and talented musicians. Please note that performance times and band locations may change so check the posters on Halloween for the final details.

-Femme Fighters (5PM Village Hall), straight out of the Hudson Valley, this band is a dynamic, hard-hitting, all-female, cover band that celebrates formidable female artists from the 1980’s to today.

-Luka (5PM  27 N. Dutcher), 12-year-old Luka Singh, a veteran of Porchella, will feature songs from Journey, A Tribe Called Quest and an original piece with key appearances from kids on N. Dutcher.

-The Irving-Tones (5:30PM  10 S. Cottenet), Rockin’ the Rivertowns since 2025, The Irving-Tones will deliver spine tingling classic rock tunes!

-Radiodead (5:30PM   7 S. Cottenet), just like Radiohead, but deader,

-(Almost) Skam (6:00PM Village Hall), three-fourths of The Skam and a local keyboardist/vocalist join forces to play fun (mostly) female fronted rock covers from the 1960s to the 2020s.

-Nirvana-ween (6PM  22 N. Dutcher), with an emphasis on “Nevermind”, Nirvana-ween will deliver the grunge and attitude you need this Halloween season,

-Head to Toe (6:30PM  6 W. Home Place), three psychologists and one podiatrist will bring you music to stimulate the mind, heart, body and sole (with some “Halloween rockers” thrown in),

-Killer Mixtape (6:30PM   22 S. Dutcher), delivers a deep dive into the 1970’s with NYC punk, classic rock, yacht grooves and Fleetwood Mac,

-Hot Flash - (6:30PM  7 S. Cottenet), coming to us from Hastings, this band is a tribute to The Go-Go’s - the most successful all-female rock band of all time - and other fun 80’s girl pop/punk.

-Local Politics (7PM  Village Hall), representing the best of 90s alt rock (including Irvington’s Mayor on drums and a Scarsdale Trustee on bass),

-Orb Pumpkin (7PM 22 N. Dutcher), like the Great Pumpkin rising out of the most sincere and least hypocritical pumpkin patch, Orb Pumpkin’s spooky blues creations will bathe the streets of Irvington with musical tricks and treats.

-The OG, North Dutcher Allstars (7:30PM  22 N. Dutcher), will reveal their transformation into this year’s band about a week prior to Halloween…because surprise and anticipation are beautiful things!

-The Strokes (8:00PM  22 S. Dutcher), these lads from The Muscle bring you your favorite indie-rock hits from the Strokes,

-Green Day (8:30PM 25 N. Eckar), playing hits from the iconic albums “Dookie” and “American Idiot”, and

-Evil Eckar (9:00PM  25 N. Eckar), the legendary Halloween Band with a tribute to Pearl Jam!

Please join the Halloween celebration in the Main Street area and enjoy the music, candy and community, in whatever order you prefer.

Regards,

Jon Siegel
