Carbondale Police Press Release - Car-Pedestrian Traffic Crash

CARBONDALE – On August 10, 2025, at 11:01 p.m., City of Carbondale Police Officers responded to the 600 block of South Giant City Road for a report of a traffic crash. Officers learned the driver of a vehicle pulled over to the side of the roadway and exited their vehicle to check on a deer that appeared to have been struck by a different vehicle. While the driver was outside of their vehicle, they were struck by a passing vehicle. The other vehicle also struck the victim’s vehicle during the crash. The victim was taken to the emergency room by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries. The at fault driver was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, Driving with Suspended Vehicle Registration, and Operation of a Vehicle Without Insurance. They were released with the citations pending an appearance in court. A Civic Ready Alert was sent out requesting motorists to avoid the area during the investigation.
