**Warrant** – Residential Burglary and Vehicle Theft

CARBONDALE – The City of Carbondale Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a suspect wanted on a warrant for Residential Burglary and Vehicle Theft.  On July 9, 2025, at approximately 2:19 p.m., City of Carbondale Police Officers responded to the 500 block of Deer Trail for a residential burglary and vehicle theft. Officers learned that suspects burglarized the residence and stole a vehicle at about 11:24 p.m. on July 8, 2025. During the course of the investigation, detectives identified Brian K. Adams, 43 of Carbondale, and Gerald D. Stroud, 40 of Vergennes, IL., as the suspects.

On July 9, 2025, Stroud was located and arrested in the 700 block of East Main Street. Stroud was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail.  Detectives, with the assistance of the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office, obtained an arrest warrant for Adams for Residential Burglary and Motor Vehicle Theft.  Adams may be in the O’Fallon, IL area. Officers recovered the vehicle and some of the victim’s property. Anyone with information about Adams’ whereabouts or the incident is encouraged to contact the Police Department at the numbers listed below.  The investigation remains active and ongoing.
