CITY OF CARBONDALE ENCOURAGES THOSE IN THE REGIONAL SOLAR INDUSTRY WORKFORCE TO PARTICIPATE IN SURVEY FROM THE CLIMATE JOBS INSTITUTE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CARBONDALE -

As Carbondale has been legislatively designated one of the 13 CEJA (Climate and Equitable Jobs Act) Workforce Hub regions, we are committed to supporting the state led initiative of transitioning to clean energy and providing jobs in the clean energy field, which benefit  the overall quality of life for Illinois residents by providing new forms of employment and by reaping the environmental benefits this work will bring to our region.

Below is information on a survey conducted by the Climate Jobs Institute at the University of Illinois to better understand the working conditions and job quality in Illinois’ solar industry. We hope that if this is applicable to you, that you take the time to complete this survey to help grow a stronger, more equitable, and more sustainable clean energy workforce here in Southern Illinois.

From The Climate Jobs Institute at the University of Illinois:

The Climate Jobs Institute at the University of Illinois is conducting a statewide study to better understand working conditions and job quality in Illinois’ solar industry — and they want to hear directly from workers, contractors, and employers.

They are inviting solar workers, contractors, and business owners to participate in a short survey and/or an optional interview.

  • The survey takes 15–20 minutes and includes a $15 gift card

  • The interview lasts one hour (via Zoom or in person) and includes a $60 gift card

All participation is voluntary and confidential. The findings will help shape state workforce development and inform clean energy policies.
