Carbondale Police Press Release - Traffic Crash

CARBONDALE – On January 24, 2025, at 11:07 a.m., City of Carbondale police officers responded to the 1200 block of South Wall Street in reference to a report of a traffic crash. Officers found the roadway blocked due to the crash and an alert was sent out requesting motorists avoid the area until the roadway could be re-opened. During the investigation, officers learned the driver of a vehicle turned right (traveling northbound) from a private drive as a Jackson County Mass Transit bus was traveling south in the southbound lane. While turning, the driver of the vehicle entered the southbound lane and struck the bus as it was passing. Two passengers on the bus and both the driver and occupant of the vehicle received minor injuries as a result of the crash. One of the injured parties was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment. The driver of the vehicle was issued a traffic citation for Improper Lane Use. The investigation into the crash remains active and ongoing.
