Carbondale Alerts

Amtrak to Transport by Bus from Carbondale to Champaign through month of October

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CARBONDALE -

The City of Carbondale would like to inform residents and all travelers that during the month of October, Canadian National Railway will be doing line work on the tracks North of Carbondale that will affect travel with Amtrak, causing the Saluki Route to and from Carbondale to Champaign to operate only on the weekends.

Because of this shift, Amtrak passengers traveling to and from Carbondale and Champaign will be transported by bus during the weekdays in October.  This will present variations from the regular Amtrak schedule in departure and arrival times. Travel on the weekends should not be affected and not require this alternative mode of transportation.

There is not an alert about the current change in transportation while booking an Amtrak ticket online. Once your ticket is booked, an Amtrak agent will reach out to passengers via email with further information on how to modify your reservation with the new accommodations, rebook your trip, or request a full refund. Passengers may also reach out to the Amtrak Customer Care Team at 800-872-7245. To bypass the AI agent, one may say “operator” to be placed on hold to talk to a person.

We send apologies for any inconvenience this causes travelers during the month of October. October is a very exciting time in the City of Carbondale and we hope to assist with any shifts such as this that arise to make the journey as easy and accessible as possible for all visitors.
