CARBONDALE – The City of Carbondale Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating missing person Tamara J. Sawyer, 35, of Carbondale. Detectives located an image of Tamara’s vehicle, a 2012 Toyota Camry with Illinois Registration BC94714, on July 29, 2026, at 12:33 p.m., traveling northbound on Illinois Route 127 north of Pinckneyville in the direction of Nashville, IL. 

On July 30, 2026, officers learned Tamara was last seen at a residence in the 100 block of North Springer at about 7:00 a.m. on July 29, 2026, but may have returned, but then left again before 8:40 a.m. During the investigation, officers learned Tamara was seen at a residence in the 200 block of South 9th Street in Murphysboro at about 2:00 p.m. on July 29, 2026.  

Tamara is described as 6’01” tall, weighing 156 pounds with long brown hair and brown eyes. Tamara was last seen wearing a burgundy shirt and blue jeans.  Tamara was driving a white 2012 Toyota Camry with Illinois Registration BC94714. Tamara suffers from a condition that places her in danger. Anyone with information on Tamara’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the police department at the numbers listed below.  The investigation is active and ongoing.
