Carbondale Police Press Release - Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property and Theft

CARBONDALE – On 07-06-2026, at 6:24 a.m., City of Carbondale Police Officers responded to a business in the 600 block of East Main Street in reference to a report of a burglary. Officers learned that on 07-04-2026 at about 8:00 a.m., the suspect broke into the business, damaged and stole property. During the investigation, officers identified the suspect as Scott R. Schwartz, 46, of Carbondale. Officers worked quickly to locate Schwartz and arrested him for Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property, and Theft. Officers also located some of the stolen property and returned it to the business. Anyone with information about the incident is encouraged to contact the police department at the numbers listed below. The investigation is active and ongoing.
