The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Carbondale effective this Tuesday afternoon and evening from 1:30 PM until 9:00 PM. 

Primary threats include...
Scattered large hail and isolated very large hail events to 2 inches in diameter are possible
Isolated damaging wind gusts to 70 mph are possible

SUMMARY...Mostly elevated storms, driven by strong instability aloft, will continue to move east-northeastward into the region this afternoon and early evening. Large hail will be the most common hazard, with localized wind damage a possibility as well.

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do product tornadoes.
