July 4 Fireworks Display and Special Patriotic Music Performance

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CARBONDALE -
The City of Carbondale and Southern Illinois University Carbondale are excited to announce the return of the annual fireworks display on the SIU campus with a special live patriotic music performance prior to the fireworks display to commemorate America at 250 on our nation’s Independence Day!

The celebration will begin with a special musical performance by the Southern Illinois Music Festival at 7:45 p.m., Saturday, July 4, in lot 18 by the Banterra Center, followed by the fireworks display at 9:15 p.m.  For the best fireworks viewing, spectators are advised to park in Banterra Center parking lots 18 and 56. Overflow parking will be directed to lot 89, north of the Banterra Center. It is recommended to arrive early, as the main parking lots are usually full and close by 9 p.m.

While waiting for the fireworks to begin, in addition to enjoying the live orchestra performance, spectators may also enjoy an array of delicious treats from food vendors, including Honeybeez Snowballz, Pelzer’s Tropical Sno, and American Ice Cream. Any food truck vendors interested in joining the celebration can reach out to events@siu.edu.
