Carbondale Police Press Release - Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Resisting a Peace Officer

CARBONDALE – On May 3, 2026, at 2:19 a.m., a City of Carbondale Police Officer was inside a business in the 700 block of East Grand Avenue when he saw a person with a firearm in his waistband. When the officer approached, the male fled. Officers apprehended the male, later identified as Damarion Ja Shean Williams, 21, of Sparta, after a brief foot chase and found him to be in possession of a loaded firearm without lawful authority. Williams was arrested for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Resisting a Peace Officer. Williams was incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail pending a detention hearing.
