Carbondale Police Press Release - Traffic Crash

CARBONDALE – On April 28, 2026, at 9:11 p.m., City of Carbondale Police Officers responded to the 300 block of North Springer Street for a report of a traffic crash involving a vehicle that struck a residence. Officers learned the driver of the vehicle, Eric K. Chase, 34, of Waterloo, IA, drove off the roadway and struck the residence. Chase was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. There were no other injuries reported by any of the residents and the residence did not appear to have any damage. Chase was issued citations for No Valid Driver’s License, Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle, and Aggravated Driving Under the Influence. Chase was released pending an appearance in court.
